The Mitchell Report Confusion
53With all the the steroid fuss in baseball over the last few years it seemed that up was the only way to go for America's favorite pass time. That was until Mr. Mitchell and his clubhouse flunky got together to create a 400 or so page document that has caused even more of a "juice" concern.
On Thursday afternoon the Baseball bombshell hit the sports world with no concern for innocent by-standers in the process. The long awaited Mitchell's Report was released yesterday and with high powered names like Barry Bonds, which has gone through a modern day witch hunt already for the last few years, and Roger Clemens listed, it's obvious that Baseball and it's fans have taken the knife in the heart at this point, or should I say a syringe? But if this whole steroid thing isn't enough, try adding the "race" factor into the mix, as so many are starting to do at this point and time.
Many hostile Bonds fans have always wondered why there was so much focus on Barry's bat, with years of asterisk talk, creative fan's sign slander, and the Judge/Jury media that has seemingly convicted Bonds over and over since the first rumor of steroids started to swirl. Many argue that with all the, "I knew it" talk going around now that Clemens has been named as a "doper" as well, people are starting to ask the question, "where has Clemens' lynch mob been all this time"? Probably to busy placing an asterisk on Barry Bonds' record setting home-run ball!
Now with so much speculation surrounding two of Baseball's biggest names and a $20 million report that will naturally be taken for the gospel, whether it contains mis-information or not, Baseball might have achieved one thing out of all of this, a regular "Rainbow coalition of dopers". They say you can't fight fire with fire but you can best believe the Bonds supporters definitely will be watching to see if society and the media bring the heat on the "Rocket" as it was on their heavy hitting superstar. And rightfully so!
So with this being the Christmas season, many people's wish of togetherness for the holidays may have come true in the Baseball world. Where Black, White, and Latino alike has disappointed us all. Merry Christmas Baseball and thanks for the last decade of confusion and "Dope Boys"!
